Clear pattern of survival rates, the first class had better accommodations. A key factor of this is that lower class living quarters were below the deck so it was harder for them to get out. First class people were put on the lifeboats first. First class passengers were valued/favoured even in this terrible situation. First class dead bodies were treated better (in coffins) than second class bodies (canvass bags) than third class bodies (on the iceberg) than workers on the ship (ocean). Society structured by inequitable distribution of economic resources. Social stratification - hierarchical ranking of people into different economic groups (based on money) The social inequalities that characterizes canadian society are as stark and deeply rooted as you will find anywhere in the world.
