What is ethnography: trying to get an insiders perspective, trying to temporally being emerged in a social setting to get a hold of their norms, and social values, trying to gain an insiders perspective. What ethnographers do: actually take a roll in the study, often employ different research methods, train them in different molds of research, employ in-depth interviews, 4. always need to form a balanced insiders perspective. Steps in the ethnographic process: some ethnographers like to just sit down and watch, some want to actually take part in the activities and get in the study. Theoretical sampling: where the sample size is not determined in advance, collect data till patterns and these continue to repeat. Participant observation: watch the social life unfold, look for themes and patters and take rick detailed notes. Insights are grounded in the data we collected. In depth interviews: the patients, the perceptions on the staff.
