Far and away the biggest sport governing body in the usa with over 1200 member organizations. Divided into three divisions- i, ii, iii, based on such things as number of sports offered, size of athletics department, budget, size of stadia, etc. One canadian school is an ncaa member (sfu competes in div. Canadian universities typically compete in u sports, with community colleges competing in the canadian collegiate athletics association (ccaa) All are national in scope, and host national championships.
