Natural history is nature- living, breathing, dynamic animals. It is the original and only reality show, what you see is what you get. Someone with a general interest in natural history is a naturalist: looks at birds, plants, tools-binoculars look at things at a distance. Ferns- full of chemical cocktails, plant, makes animals die. Natural history is the observation of living plants and animals, flora and fauna and their interactions, it is observational science. Thought pro(cid:272)ess (cid:862)(cid:449)hat the he(cid:272)k is this? (cid:863) (cid:272)uriousity. Naturalist: one who makes a special study of animals/plants. All living things have risks of being consumed by something else. Grasslands (fields, meadows) have vertical lines, stripes, streaks on animals. American bittern- background matching, camouflage, eye placement, get frightened beaks in the air. Forest floor is dappled- light and dark , sun peaking in. Female spruce grouse , ground nesting birds- have blotch patterns.
