Natural history is the enjoyment or observations of living plants and animals- flora and fauna- and their interactions. Someone with an interest in natural history or nature is a naturalist. A naturalist: one who makes a specializes in the study of animals and plants (a less precise term than zoologist, biologist, etc. ) Herpetologist: one who studies reptiles and/or amphibians. Entomologist: one who studies insects: diptenist: one who studies flies, lepidopterist: one who studies butterflies and/or moths, coleopterist: one who studies beetles, ornithologist: one who studies birds, malacologist: one who studies slugs and/or snails.
