It refers to conditions or surroundings prevalent in foreign countries that affect the functioning of a business firm and its activities: the conditions that affect the behavior and development of a business enterprise. From a business perspective, the primary incumbent in an international business environment is the multinational enterprise (mne), which is a company that pursues strategic success in global production and sales (i. e. operating within a number of country borders) Why the international environment is important: a good international business environment helps all countries. Some goods and services are highly specialised and the domestic market is too small to allow economies of scale to be exploited: economies of scale also result from extending the use of brands in overseas markets. For example, issues such as ill-defined or unstable policies and corrupt practices can be hugely problematic emerging markets.
