If something is repeated long enough, it gets propagated and is self-reinforced. Stu like luminosity or games that say you will get smarter is utterly false. People can lose while hemispheres and still function relatively normally. If we remove 70% of your neurones randomly, were not sure how badly o you"d be. There are several cognitive biases that make us believe that its real. We would like to believe in the paranormal. We believe it because we want it to be true. The e ect is small, short term and only based on arousal. You can get the same e ect from hearing a scary passage from a stephen king book.
