We see a lot of continuity during the transition between the old kingdom to the. Middle kingdom, the intermediate era harkens back to the previous times of the old. Kingdom in terms of art and iconography (the old fashioned kilt style, the stele of the. King and the slave holding his mace harkening back to narmer) Intef is the period of unification, and the period after uses the name mentuhotep. In the steele of tjetji we see 14 lines of biography and we see the figure himself in the left side. In the intermediate period they start naming, every and any figure on a relief. At some point during the first intermediate period is the mound of how much food is available in the next life, which we see reflected on the stele. We see a continuation of humour in funerary art.
