COMS 1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Appeasement, Unbridled, Australian National University
Document Summary
Explain seth lazar"s theory of self-defence, offer one or two strong objections to it. Seth lazar, an associate professor and philosopher at the australian national university has put forward an interesting theory that deals with the ideas of self-defense and war. Responsibility, risk, and killing in self defense aims to explain the concept of self-defense so that it becomes justified during periods of war. Self-defense has been codified as a basic right for all human beings according to the international laws set forward by the united nations organization. This signifies that self-defense is justifiable only to protect oneself from harm in the face of reasonable circumstances and that they will include such actions which are normally considered as being criminal in nature. This normally becomes a cause of debate in cases of individual self-defense but when it comes to collective self-defense the problem multiplies itself manifold.
