- Used for many new things such as rocket launch to space or the moon
- it absorbs and storages data
- 1950, push for automate
- IBM revolutionized technology by handing them out to many other companies
- they were also given to universities
- they would sell you to machine, install it, sustain it for you
- many knew IBM monopolized the computer sector and was sued by the US government
- IBM made a deal that they can sell the machine but the customer can go and buy their
software from another company
- Microsoft; They don't sell you a computer, they sell you software, info, mad instructions to be
able to use the computer
