Document Summary

Today we are talking about how we actually go about doing qualitative data analysis. This lecture is broad strokes and i am going to give you a few different examples and a general approach on how you would go about coding qualitative material you will be coding your description of people your observing. You will be coding impressions you have, newspaper articles or song lyrics or art in some kind of way. This applies more generally but as you drill down to a more particular median you will see . The first thing we want to talk about is this idea of analytic induction and how qualitative research uses theory inductively. Unless quantitative research which is very linear, qualitative research is a spiral process. Generally, we state these research questions and then we begin to hypothetically answer these questions, whether its descriptions of something or analyzing something.
