Document Summary
The rate of technological development speeds up from 19hth century onwards. Two pivoted points in which debates tend to turn on this. They fear that we are losing something fundamental. They feel we are coming less intelligent and less capable as we turn ourselves into more computerized people. The positive attitudes get in the way of what"s going on. Instrumentalists- okay that"s good, or that"s bad but the important thing here is how the people use the technology provided. I determine through my use how things works. Technology and the conditions in if they function well determine how things do and how they determine if things are good in our lives. Not a fan of rich powerful people. Doesn"t prefer writing, everything we know about him comes from his students. Socratic method- he always suggested what he was doing is the search for truth, or looking for answers and understanding. This method is still used in some law schools.
