Anti-consumerist narrative- bathhouse and youbaba"s den are full of consumer things, sen always rejects it. Her parents are consumerist too- credit card, nice car, pigging out on food. Bathhouse first appears like traditional and different from this- but exists to provide luxury services to wealthy clients. Youbaba"s twin sister is opposite- in country setting, not full of treasures. Child stuck in fantasy world they cant get out of and help them develop- like wizard of oz, alice in wonderland. Changes jehero into a mature young girl from a whiny brat. No face represents greed- can"t get enough of it, consumes you- like he literally consumes you. Bathhouse workers exploited- bound by contracts, lose name, underpaid- but value in community based on hard work. When jehero first gets there, she has never worked and has to grow up and learn to work. Bathhouse exists to look after bodies- but spirits who don"t really have bodies.
