Overpopulation directly corresponds to human suffering due to the notion that human population increases geometrically while food production can only increase arithmetically . If the trend continued war, famine and poverty would become frequent than food. As food shortages appear we identify ways of increasing supply whether through new technology, better seeds or new farming methods. There is enough food to feed the world problem lies with distribution. Famine - more likely to be the result of a natural disaster, war or country growing too many cash crops to sell overseas. Demographers seek to understand population dynamics by investigating 3 main processes: All three processes contribute to changes in population. Including how people inhabit the earth, form nations & societies and develop culture. Population - a group of individuals of the same species who inhabit an area. Number of individuals added to a population through reproduction per year. Demographic structure (i. e. more men and/ or elderly = higher death rates.
