Passive spectator: comes, watches a ilm, inishes, leaves, moves on, purge emoion through character and narraive. Active spectator: get involved through the art. The ilmmaker reaches through the screen and pulls the spectator into the ilm"s diegesis. Instead of having decisions made for them, the ilm encourages the spectator to make their own decisions based on the subject mater and on poliical issues. Characterizaion: we learn about krasna through the leters he writes, tv clips & archival footage, 4 icional characters (with no tangible existence) Hayao yameneko (video arist, acivist interested in electronics) Michel krasna (musician, brother: we need to receive everything we see in documentary with 100 grains of salt. At the end of sans soleil, krasna claims to want to make a ilm called sans soleil about a man from 4001 who ime travels to the present day.
