"not in my back yard": someone that sees something that is transgressive to the perceived norms in their neighbourhood. Normative: the idea of continuity, difficult to shift people"s views. Transgressive: changing and challenging the established views that guided certain ideas and views of a group of people, seem as outsiders. People do not want visual aspect of homelessness in urban areas. Stereotypes of the homeless: drug/alcohol abuse, mental health issues, etc health issues, etc . Perceived transgressions: someone is out of place some act is out of place some act is incompatible with the "meaning" of that place.
