march 6/2014 hist 1707 the second world 1937­1945 ­ liberal governments only existed in euro countries ­ totalitarianism was coming along in countries all over the world ­ violence was used to control society ­ citizens were adduced by the bravado provided by the dictator­like governments ­ japan and germany unleashed violence within people who they considered enemies  ­ "this is a new king of war, it is warfare in terms of every continent, every island, every sea, and every  airway" ­ rooselevelt ww1 started in asia ­ started with japan and continuing on its expansion for an empire ­ depression hit japan really hard..so much unemployment ­ they blamed western imperialism 1931  ­ japan occupied province of manchuria(?) in china ­ blew up japanese owned train tracks and blamed china ­ afterwards, persuaded china to willingly see more territory 1937 ­ minor scrimage to unleash war ­ started with bejing ­ japanese airforce bombed chinese cities ­ they didn't defeat china tho 1938 ­ 1.5 million japanese troops in china bogged down ­ fighting continued till 1945 1941 ­ britain, france watched and condemned with what was happening ­ didn't do shit about the war ­ no intention to do anything about japanese expansion unless they bothered them  ­ japan and hitler became allies in 1938 ­ the u.s was the first country to push back japan ­ oil drastically fell in japan pearl harbour 1941 ­ japan attacked main base of americas ­ attack backfired in 2 ways ­ air craft (navy) carriers were not there the day japan attacked ­ u.s then decided to fully join the war to fight back 1942 ­ japan had vast empire ­ called it greater east asian something ­ mission to liberate asia but lowkey exploiting other territories for themselves nazi platform of 1920 ­ all germans should be united ­ annulment of peace treaty ­ demand land and soil to feed people and settle excess pop. ­ only nationals can be citizens …the rest is on the powerpoint nazis prepared for territorial expansion and internal cleansing appeasement ­ grants hitler anything he wanted to avo
