Sewing home or workshop: more people wore cotton & bought their clothing than before, more people wore underwear, fetching & delivering clothes along w/ sewing. Isolated couldn"t make demands of their employer: could do it while caring for children at home. Domestic service: huge # of girls & women, hard work, some benefits, 1860s a third of women working as servants. Everything dictated by bells lots of rules. Women became a symbol of immoral working class wore little clothing or men"s clothes b/c it was hot. Marriage age falls (england age fell to 23)
