Constanly tells them that they haven"t yet integrated into society and reminds them of a difficult period in their life. Difficult to recreate same life that they had back in home country. Many somali"s came to canada in the 90"s due to the civil war. However, coming to canda they had to face a bevy of new challenges. Racism, adapting to new culture, job searching, house hunting, learning new language etc In the late 90"s in ontario, somali"s were accused by the media and politicians of committing systematic welfare fraud. This fed into the public narrative of them being lazy, uncooperative and thiefs. There were even suspicions that they were sending some of their welfare funds back home to fund the war. Caught near the cdn military base stealing food and supplies.
