Law is an enterprise in political morality: what we owe one another, what is right and what is wrong, legal theory: bridge. Justification in value: abortion and torture are immoral: must be able to state why we think it is immoral. Know the difference between uncertainty about the law v. Dworkin: in every legal question there is one right answer: some answers may be better than others, skeptical claims that there are no answers. Social rules as rules of recognition (hart) Everything is subject to revision if there is a better way. Argument feels right if it is right: different types of immorality (torture v. murder), moral wrongs of different special types. Rule of judge is to uphold the law.
