Nation state: a thing around which we draw territorial borders ( geographic/territorial entity that has a political system that governs within those boarders) Political citizenship: right to participate by being an elector or a voter. Right to become a member of the legislation (body that is invested in politics) Social citizenship: right to share in a social heritage, live the life of a civilized being. Citizenship is a status in which the above-mentioned rights are bestowed to those who are deemed full members of the community. Johnston is opposed to grubel on this notion. Grubel: burden on tax system, burden is caused by the influx of skilled migrant workers who bring along family members who are not skilled workers. Skilled workers do not live up to their skills in the workforce. The point system which we use to determine who can belong in canada (in terms of immigrants) not stringent enough.
