Laws 3908b week 4 september 28th, 2016. Video talked about the steps canada can take. From 1874 to 1996 many indian children were sent to residential schools where they were forbidden to see their parents, speak their native language, or practice their cultural beliefs. Many of these children were abused; sexually physically and psychologically. In 2008 there was a 2 billion dollars settlement that was given to survivors of those residential schools. But the survivors were not out for money, rather they wanted the wrongdoing to be recognized and be able to speak about those wrongdoings.
