In ancient greece, it is accepted that the political unit is a city (polis) Polis leads to politics, police, poli, etc. Origin of politics, police, etc. is polis (city) Virtue living excellently the idea that you are able to rationally reflect on your actions, goals and work in conjunction but also competition with other people like yourself to maximize your excellence.
