Document Summary

Aboriginals are both overrepresented in institutions as well as victims. Instead of dealing with this through holistic approaches, the government most always conforms to criminal approaches to fix problems. What we see is that there are certain approaches that can be used instead when dealing with aboriginal persons in justice. These alternative justice systems are intended to bring all persons together and tries to integrate offending into the larger circles of life by identifying why and how to fix the problem: dp and aboriginal people. Dp reforms could respond to specific situations of racism but it was not relevant to general cases involving aboriginal persons. It does not really stream out systemic bias and discrimination that is a large problem. Dp model really provoked and legitimized crime control models: donald marshall jr. One of the main goals of dp was to ensure that we do not convict innocent persons.
