When they were giving the monkey juice + tone they had an increase in da. But, when they were only giving the monkey the tone soon after da decreased. In addition, when they implanted an electrode in daergic region in rats they kept pressing it more than 1000 times an hour even after they stopped administering the pleasurable shocks (during the extinction phase). What does dopamine do to sexual behaviour - what brain areas is it acting in to have these effects. They put da specific neurotoxins in mesolimbic (nac) and nigrostriatal (str) pathways. They introduced then a primed female and found that lesions in the nac reduced mounting and lesions in the str reduced how much the male interacted with the female. They then wanted to see if puting da in the nac would have the opposite effect, and gave them injections of amph in nac.
