Hormones can be classified according to the chemical structure. Bind to receptors and are sometimes able to bind to more than one receptor. Receptors can be nuclear receptors, metabotropic , or tyrosine kinase receptors. Hormones are secreted by glands throughout the body. The glands communicate with each other to form systems. Most species that reproduce sexual are sexually differentiated: sex related difference vs. gender differences. Sex differences in cognitive functions, diseases/disorders: ex. Females suffer from more eating disorders (could arguably be cultural), more males live with autism: bias in diagnosis of certain diseases. Midship(cid:373)a(cid:374) fish: exa(cid:373)ples of (cid:862)s(cid:374)eaker(cid:863) (cid:373)ales: underdeveloped male that tries to mate with females before they choose to mate with more developed males. Patterns fluctuate depending on how animals adapt to environment. Endocrine system sexually differentiated: even those that are shared may develop differently depending on sex. Understand how sex hormones are produced to affect behaviour.
