Sexual segregation at the origin of ancient greece women were not allowed to act freely in public: gynaikon: rooms reserved for women to take care of children, food, housework. To cover human needs, 2 types of activities required: production, protection/transformation of goods. Different social status in relation with different uses for men: wives, companions, mistress, prostitutes. In greek culture: presence of impressive female (scary) figures in myths, e. x.
