The social learning theories explain the offending of the youth is mostly as a result of the environment and not the individual himself. In this case, john"s father was violent and an alcohol abuser and thus, this environment would have been a pretty bad one to grow up in. John would often initiate fist fights at school, which can be explained by bandura"s social learning theory, which states that children learn how to act by observing others. In this case, john"s father was abusive which he grew up seeing, so being violent and aggressive is what john learned and what ultimately lead him to get into fights at school.
