Dominant/main view is that the brain is a computer(cid:1680)is a physical device that can think: it"s not a metaphor. Programming the computer to feel emotions creates controversy over whether the computer actually feels. The human brain is the most complex structure in the universe: in principle, we are unaware of several functions although the cognitive approach works for everything except consciousness, we understand everything just not in its complexity. We do not understand consciousness: what is it, what is it for, how did it evolve, not positive the information processing approach will work(cid:1680) it seems to not make sense. It"s a lot like a 3d movie that we"re in(cid:1680)moving around. Cinematography (visual: saccades(cid:1680)rapid eye movements, object recognition, attention. Sound: coded in fourier transformations (way of combining waves to make sound, phonetics, linguistics. Story: narrative functions(cid:1680)everyone is in the centre of their own universe. All these things combine in your movie(cid:1680)our experiences are in our minds.
