National income predicts above individual: it"s nice to live in a rich society, some, but small, relative deprivation". Rising incomes over time can increase swb (cf. previous, smaller research) Consider materialism (& swb: video: kassar & high price of materialism. Materialistic values go up, pro-social value goes down. Materialism increase, people care less for environment. Exposure to media leads to spending makes one prioritize materialistic values. Spending money on others seems to facilitate happiness (c. f. other pro-social behaviors)
