Tests must be valid (measuring what you say you are measuring), reliable (consistent results) and sensitivity (need to take into account individual differences) and robustness (should not be sensitive to the environment it is taken in) Typicial or normal are people who don"t have cognitive impairment. doesn"t mean they are all the same. Mild cognitive impairment is statistically significant departure from normal. You find out a patients pre mordbid condition by looking at school records, work records, references, family members, medical history. If someone has mild cognitive impairment early in life you can predict that neuro degeneration is more likely to happen in near future. Factors that affect cognitive don"t manifest themselves the same way across gender. Females controls have high scores of verbal iq. Left hemispheres affects verbal intelligence more severely in men than in women. Right hemispheres affects verbal intelligence more severly in women.
