Sexual assault (gss): forced sexual activity, attempted forced sexual activity, unwanted sexual touching, grabbing or fondling, or sexual relations without being able to give consent. Offender and victim often know each other (75%) Less than 5% of sex crimes get reported to police. Violent victimization rate down 28% since 2004. But sexual assault victimization rate has remained virtually unchanged. Sexual functioning: lack of desire, preoccupation with sex, risk-taking, compulsive sexual behaviour, low sexual satisfaction. Increase frequency of problems if: 6-18 years of age when abused, injured during abuse >1 abuser, incest offence. Dsm: recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviours generally involving: non-human objects, the suffering or humiliation of oneself or ones partner, or, children or other non-consenting persons. Occurring over a period of at least 6 months.
