Goldstein"s brain-injured soldiers of world war i. Minimal brain injury and hyperactive child syndrome. Chronic and pervasive condition: inattention and/or impulsivity and hyperactivity. Symptoms/behaviours beyond what is expected for a child"s developmental level. Three subtypes are reflected by the use of and/or in the definition: Symptoms of inattention trouble holding attention on tasks/play seems not to listen when spoken to does not follow through on instructions. Each of the following is a diagnostic characteristic of adhd: predominantly inattentive, except: often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly, often talks excessively, often has difficulty organizing for tasks or activities. Estimates of 3 to 5 percent of school-age population in north america. Boys outnumber girls 3 to 1 boys (hyperactive or impulsive type of adhd), while girls exhibit (inattentive type of adhd) No statistics because adhd is not a separate category. Presumption that most students are in general education classrooms & less than half receive special education services.
