Dynamic assessment = assessing children"s potential for learning with assistance, rather than their independent performance: mixing it up by level, taking cultural factors into consideration. Traditional methods of assessment are inadequate (dynamic assessment methods proposed) Evaluation of this approach: pros, good implications for teaching, testability, easy to understand, cognitive universals are variable as opposed to piaget. Week 5 part 1: cons, cross cultural issue e. g. counting numbers, not as rich as piaget"s theory as well that it is not rigid as piaget, hard to pin point many factors in culture. Chapter 5 perceptual development: visual perception: researchers have developed two primary methods for studying infant visual perceptions, and both capitalize on the fact that infants turn their heads toward what interests them. Their behaviour will change if they look longer. If they don"t look longer we can know that they think it"s the same, they can"t perceive the difference.
