Controversial media including rap and heavy metal, sex and violence on tv, and cigarette advertising. Listens to music 4 hours/day: watches tv 2 hours/day. 50% go to a movie at least once a month. 90% have access to computers and the internet. Emerging adults 93% own a digital device. Emerging adults have show more use than adolescents. All sorts of media not on list as it"s a tad old! Theories of media influence (see all theories in text!) Cultivation theory watching tv gradually shapes or cultivates a person"s worldview so it becomes like the worldview frequently depicted on tv; mean world syndrome. Social learning theory people are more likely to imitate behavior they see frequently modeled [in the media] and that behaviour is rewarded (or at least not punished)
