Why do we earn less than men: occupational segregation. Vertical vs. horizontal segregation: vertical: separation into hierarchical levels that entail different levels of educational attainment, experience and skills. Horizontal segregation: jobs that have similar educational requirements, but entail different tasks and are situatued in different occupations (office clerk vs. truck driver)
