Finish the contrast the different modes of the sacred. This includes the figure of muhammad and the figure of buddha/ Muhammad had a special relationship with god: chosen by him, speaks with his authority. In this journey, he invited his disciples to test the buddhist truths, his dharma, for themselves. These two terms were first put forward by max weber, a german sociologist of religion, at the turn of the 20th century. They both have a message to say, thus this is why they both are considered as prophets. Both have different ways of being religious. In the text, kessler gives an example of someone who goes to church regularly, and can have a sense of the presence of god: god is there listening and appreciating the ceremony/rituals. This type of religious experience is simply knowing or sensing that your religious beliefs/practices are true.
