Population: the totality of people with which the research study is concerned. Sampling frame: a list of all people included in the above population. Sample: a smaller group from within the population drawn from within the population. Size depends on the nature of the study and the homogeneity of the population. Rule of thumb: 1/10 of the population. Rule of thumb: interview until you reach the level of saturation where interviewing more people won"t generate more useful information. Used by social workers to evaluate their own practice. Provides data about how well a treatment is working. Can be built into every social worker"s practice without disruption. Provides tools for evaluation the effectiveness of practice. Provides a continuous records of changes in the target problem over the entire course of the intervention. Measure the problem at different time intervals at different time intervals. Gives a baseline score as well as a trend.
