Auguste comte is deemed to be the rst person who put the word into practice in 1838. What major historic events directly contributed to the emergence of sociology as a discipline in the 19th century (the three sets of revolutions) The sociological imagination was born when three revolutions pushed people to think about society in an entirely new way. - the idea that sound conclusions about the workings of the society must be based on solid evidence, not just a speculation. Often linked to speci c ideas such as the newton"s law of motion. In other words, using evidence to make a case for a particular point of view. - suggests that people are responsible for organizing society and that human intervention can therefore solve social problems. In other words people control society and they can help improve it.
