Why do people with certain attributes appear more frequently in data: social control, targeting certain people ( agents of social control (policeuse of force model, etc) Why do some people assume deviant id: how do they reconcile label with own id conflict theory, richard quinney social reality of crime. What is deviant behaviour in terms of the social system itself: does it only apply to people in a negative way? applies as much to underdog as anyone else(beethoven) Historically: how it has been defined through the centuries studying "demonology" as a physiological defect, deviant=different statistical definition. Deviance is relativistic behaviour relativism means rule breaking. Deviance as dangerous behaviour: why do people comply with law, because these people know they have a responsibility for what they do, provides order and we all benefit from it. 3 major theories, and the theorists: positivist control. Re-integrative shaming, braithwaite anomie-strain: social learning, constructionist, becker quotememorize!!
