Risk based and evidence based crime: examine weather or not we can predict behavior and identify certain factors. 2. to look at the degree to which normal personality dynamics work in criminals: introvert vs. extroverts, can we link them to criminal behavior. ->group offenders by comparing personality types: personality types have not separate criminals from non criminals. 3. mental disorder and crime: some exhibit symptoms of mental illness but do not have it, can mental illness predict criminal behavior later in life. Identify risk factors: adoption studies, 4000 male children, come to the conclusions: Boys who are adopted with birth parents with no criminal record. Boys who are adopted with birth parents who do have a criminal record. Predictors of criminality: low intelligence is a major predictor of criminal behaviour, greater risk of criminal activity regardless of parents iq. Study: marvin wolfgang: strong relationship between iq and criminality, regardless of social class. Theories of victimization: age, young people are more often victims.
