The poor have not chosen to have less money. All of us are condemned with building an identity with whatever circumstances you are in. He is saying we done have an essence . Compelled to do so because that is how we understand our identity. No dimension more important than one"s own body. Modern people believe that what they eat defines them. People understand being good as being true to ourselves.
