What does it mean to act ethically as a professional. The different codes of ethics contradicts themselves so the code is just really a guide for how social workers should conduct themselves. Move away from strict adherence to the code of ethics and look at the context in which you are in and what is going on the client at that certain time etc You arrive in the waiting room to meet a new client and you realize that you know the client from high school. Make sure both parties are comfortable with the situation. Disclose the possible conflict of interest to your supervisor. The person needs to be able to put themselves in the client"s shoes and environment. You are co-facilitating a weekly after care group for men in their first year of sobriety. After one of the groups, one of the men gave her a burn cd as a gift for her.
