Naturalized way of thinking about family = always good. Monogamous, unpaid relationships, built-in expectation that the couple will get married and have children. Not a lot of conception of families outside of our model. Through our questioning, we are governing or regulating people. We can never attain it, we can never be the ideal man or woman. Found outside of the normal = material consequences to pay. ^ex: within neoliberalism the welfare state has been replaced by minimalist state legitimize this by saying ppl = responsible for their own well-being instead of the state. Goal = all of us to subscribe to capitalist logic. State asks: can you rely on your family? family has a very economic reason to be. Court of law still privileges biological parents and will go after biological fathers for support regardless of time frame, or if the child or mother wants them in their life, the court will find them and hold them responsible.
