Men who want to succeed must adapt in situations. Men in crisis don"t understand social scripts. Strategy by which men maneuver gender landscape. Such as a father, provider in social situations, warrior (i. e. as fighter pilot), working class man. After presidency, he took on painting took on a lot of abuse from his opponents: ex. As cool, appealing to young people, in control/power, as buff, athletic, cowboy. Difficulty w/ this strategy: works if it"s believable & you can pull it off. Perceived as very stiff, cold, didn"t make connections w/ ordinary ppl. Justin trudeau: problem he faced: spoiled, pampered guy, son of a former pm, he wasn"t tough, didn"t have to work a day in his life, he did boxing. Men & women will have to give up ideals to work on the crisis. Men will have to give up some of the hegemonic ideals. Women will have to reject their own attitudes.
