If it is spat out, inspect for colour, consistency, odour and amount. Wheezing determine if there are any precipitating factors like respiratory infection, allergens, exercise, or stress. Environmental or geographical exposures carbon monoxide poisoning, cigarette smoke, radon (gas that can cause lung tissue damage) obtain an employment history to determine exposure to substances such as chemical inhalants, asbestos, coal, cotton fibres, fumes.
