Tradition (things that worked in the past, customs and mores) Direction (a vision for the future to make things better) In order to communicate the foundations of a program specific tools are used: mission statement, vision statement, goals, objectives. Values: what are values, things we consider important, expressed in thoughts, words & actions, help create a focus for what is most important, values can be categorized: Societal - examples include: bilingualism, health care, education. Community- examples include: healthy environment, bike paths. Constituent- examples include: family, friends, belonging, respect. Employee - examples include: education, opportunity, challenge.
