A variety of program theories: the textbook recommends one theory. The logic model (sometimes called systems theory: beyond the textbook, there are multiple theories to choose from. Each provide a backbone upon which to build programs. Benefits-driven model: there are program theories specific to many disciplines, including, but not limited to: education, at-risk youth, work-place productivity, and community development. The theories in this course are generic in nature. The logic model depict the sequence or flow of events that identify program resources. Purpose of the logic model: match resources to needs activate the service process complete the service process, measure results. This model is easily adapted for any program. The model can be explained in writing and shown graphically or as a table. Easy to add or remove elements of the program without impacting other elements. Program ideas can overlap and have multiple benefits. You pick the model that fits the mandate of the organization best.
