Story: artemis was out having a bath in a stream, gets naked and is in the middle of no where, goddess of hunt, and his accidentily spied on by aktaion. As punishment, she makes his dogs tear him apart alive. Often see this story in vase painting. combines outdoor settings, hubrus, the male and female in opposition. Artemis stands quietly, her body is turned slightly outwards, outer arm is bent, would have been held outright. Some parts were meant to stick out of the metope. Artemis has a lack of expression due to see violence etc. this is how the greek gods are being perceived, she should be impassive, not do anything. Artemis is wearing the peplos (new style), folded over waist, goes down to feet. Aktaion is shown as a vulnerable human. He is naked, has kind of a cloak, but body is on full display.
