Document Summary

One more time: how do you motivate employees? by frederick herzberg. Difference between what motivates and satisfies people on the job: these are two different things. Satisfies (hygiene factors/needs): how you are treated at work, salary, benefits, human resources, company policies and administration, supervision, work conditions/physical environment, status, job security. They will only give you no job dissatisfaction (i"m not motivated but at least i"m not dissatisfied) Recognition, achievement, the work itself, increased levels of responsibility, advanced/promotion, growth. Are the only long-term way to ensure job satisfaction. Opportunity, ability & motivation: all jobs should be a growing experience. Kita: causes movement not motivation (it is a temporary solution): Vertical job loading (job enrichment): giving more tasks but they are not similar to the original job. (ex: work in the jean dept. , now you are tasked with training new employees, then you are tasked with doing displays).
